Volunteer at DCHS

We have defined a new vision and mission for the organization which will serve as the roadmap for all Society activities, moving forward.  Specifically, we envision the Dorchester County Historical Society will be the premier organization for preservation, research, education and celebration of the history and traditions of Dorchester County, Maryland.  Our mission is to inspire and support research, interpretation, preservation and appreciation of the history, folklore, traditions and heritage of Dorchester County, Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay region.

Join us!        Help us!        Bring your friends!       Share in our excitement!

There is so much interesting work to be done and we invite you to join us in ways that you will find most engaging, rewarding and inspiring.  We often ask you for monetary donations to support the museum.  Right now, we want to benefit from your time and talents.  We have established many new committees, the members of which are rolling up their sleeves and generating wonderful new ideas for helping us grow and operate under the highest standards of excellence for a non-profit organization.

See what might be of interest to you or where you feel you will be able to contribute the most.  Up until now, the work of DCHS has been done by a few dedicated and hardworking volunteers—we are ready to include lots of new faces and ideas on our standing committees.

If committee work is not for you, there are many areas on the campus that could benefit from volunteers:  office, library, museums, grounds, etc.  Please email dchs@verizon.net or call 410.228.7953.  We promise to make it rewarding.
